Request for Proposals June 2008
The Florida Citrus Production Research Advisory Council (FCPRAC) is pleased to announce its June 2008 Request for Proposals. This page contains all the information you need to apply for funds for the upcoming 2008 term. The FCPRAC is proud to partner with the National Academy of Sciences to administrate proposal requests.
General information about the program is provided immediately below. This is followed further down on this same page by a detailed submission checklist to ensure you meet deadlines and get the proper information to the right people. The submission guidelines are presented in a way to make the process easy to understand and follow. You will need to act soon to participate in this program since the first deadline falls on July 14, 2008.
The overall goals of this research program are to rapidly find both short- and long-term solutions to the current disease crises affecting the Florida citrus industry. Projects should be planned so that they facilitate rapid commercialization of solutions.

| Background literature is provided to familiarize you with the issues faced by the Florida citrus industry. Huanglangbing disease (also called citrus greening or HLB) is considered by most to be the current research priority. Other important diseases include citrus canker and exotic diseases such as CVC (citrus variegated chlorosis). Information about these issues will also be provided soon. |
Currently Funded Projects
Currently Funded Projects (57 kb MS Excel file)
You probably want to know what is being funded currently (2007-2008) to help you avoid proposing a duplicate project (unless you have a better way, of course). The FCPRAC announces its updated listing of approved 2007-2008 projects accessible from the link above. This information is presented in a correctly structured single-table MS Excel file.
Summaries of the information are presented on a separate worksheet using the Pivot Table reporting feature of MS Excel. (If you do not know how to use Pivot Tables, you should. It is one of the least used, but most powerful features of MS Excel.) Users may generate new Pivot Tables to summarize the information in any desired configuration.
Select Agent Program
APHIS Rule (external link)
APHIS Select Agent Program Web Site (external link)
Projects funded by the FCPRAC must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including those from the Agricultural Select Agent Program. This is especially true of researchers working with citrus greening disease. Refer to the above two links for more information about these regulations and how to comply.
Proposal Submission Checklist
The checklist below contains all the information and links to forms you need to submit a proposal to the FCPRAC and NAS.
